Renaissance Seating, has started it's tour of the country. It is as comfortable as it is beautiful. I worked closely with the team of engineers at BodySound and Kablooe to produce this marvel of sound, feeling and comfort, to create the most spectacular seat of its kind.
I think we did it!
Bodyound Technologies also makes Experiential Seating which delivers great sound an comfort and is ideal for experiencing movies and music in a way you can't imagine until you try it. To find out what VIT does, visit BodySoundVIT and, you guessed it, I designed the website as well!

Shepard Fairey or Barry?

It’s amazing how the Shepard Fairey style has caught on due to the popularity of the poster for Obama. I just thought I’d tell my Obama poster story…

I spend a couple of months working on a poster of Barack Obama.
Barack Obama Lifesaver poster
I was very happy to be supporting my candidate and thought that doing this poster would help. As I worked on it, the poster developed new meaning for me. I initially was drawn to the idea of associating Barack with the flag because of the nonsense in the media and many chat rooms, blogs and forums which cited that on a photo opportunity Barack did not have his hand on his heart when everyone else did. To me, this was no indication of a lack of respect. If Barack Obama didn’t love this country, he would not have put forth the tremendous effort to become its 44th president.
However, as I was about to begin painting, a friend suggested that I use lifesavers to represent the white and red stripes of the flag. It was brilliant. I immediately associated the lifesavers with the dedicated campaigners who were working tirelessly to help on the campaign. This gave me another idea. I had originally intended to put the poster on the http://www.MyBarackObama.com site to help with fundraising. The posters on the site were all sold out, so I thought I should add mine.
I didn’t.
I decided that I would honor the work of the campaigners by offering free posters to the very people who were doing the work. I sent out 4000 posters to very critical swing state campaign offices to be distributed to individuals who were working on the campaign. They were very much appreciated by all.
I am so proud that I played a small part in the election of Barack Obama. He is faced with a terrible situation regarding our economy and a war that was never meant to be. I know that he is not a perfect person. He may not even be a perfect president. However, I am convinced that he will try harder to make decisions from his own core values with the wisdom to understand and incorporate the values of others. That is more than we have seen in a long time.
Already, the media is stacking up stories that will bring his popularity and effectiveness into question. Once again, we must remind ourselves as Americans that we are susceptible to influence from the media and allow ourselves to make our own judgments and decisions about policy without the filters of the media distorting our opinions. Both sides of the media, conservative and liberal, have agendas. Until we are able to make a personal, popular vote on each issue that comes before our government, we must abide by this system that is still bipartisan and firmly rooted in a Washington D.C. that is rife with special interest ties on both sides of the isle.
Perhaps someday, we will be able to have a popular vote. A vote where each citizen is counted, each vote counts for one vote, and that total will determine the outcome of the issue. We have a society that is technologically sophisticated enough to accomplish the development and implementation of such a system. However, that would require dismantling a system that has guided our country through civil and world wars, a great depression and a host of changes which could crush a less resilient nation.
I believe in the individual voices of our nation. I believe in the individual voices of artists. At this point in history, the individual voices of this country have spoken up for Barack Obama. I support this decision and I support President-elect Obama.
The lifesavers in the Barack Obama Lifesaver poster represent the individual voices of America. We who support Barack Obama outnumber those who don’t. Our economy is in a very depressed state because of the Bush Administration. Regardless of what George W. Bush attempts to do to gloss over his horrible presidency, he can never bring back the lives of our soldiers or the Iraqi men, women and children who have died in this unjust war. President Bush cannot recover the lost wages, lost self-esteem and lost hope of the Americans he swore to listen to and protect from harm. His oath was not an oath to protect his own agenda, yet that is all it amounted to.
I am ready to help Barack Obama to be a better leader. I hope that you are too.

If you’d like to see my poster, visit DeeperArts.com. Barack Obama Lifesaver poster<div Often, after Blue and Glurp escaped danger, discussed current affairs or did their able best to ingratiate themselves upon the female population of Blue's nightly world, both would drift off to sleep. Sleep within sleep was a concept that Blue took for granted, but dreams within dreams, that was a completely different concept. Over the years, however, Glurp's appearances in Blue's dreams became more sporadic. He always seemed to show up when Blue felt stuck and needed someone or something to change the course of his dream. Glurp was incredibly good at that.

Blue didn't always have bad dreams. Sometimes he had very good dreams that went bad, like when Walter showed up, while others were simply reflections of his daily routine. As Blue grew older, his dream to nightmare ratio shifted toward the positive and dreams filled his night with opportunity, wonder, escape, and even love. Actually, Glurp was sort of responsible for Blue's first kiss.

As Blue got older, Mr. Nut became larger and considerably more menacing. He seemed to forget the rule that stated that he wasn't supposed to hurt Blue. Since he didn't remember where the rule came from and Blue never knew who defined the rules, Mr. Nut took it upon himself to determine how we was going to handle Blue on any given day. On this particular day, Mr. Nut was violent. He decided that before ingesting Blue, he would peel Blue. He would crack open his shell and eat out his insides like a peanut. He lifted Blue high into the air and held him up to the light of the sun, between his index finger and thumb, inspecting him for just the right spot to crack him open. He decided that pinching him between the fingers and thumb would be the best approach. As he did so, Blue doubled over, tucking his elbows in and covering his head with his hands, bracing himself against the nutty giant. As Blue folded forward, the hooded jacket he was wearing popped out at the waistline like a cracked shell. Mr. Nut was delighted to see how nicely the edge of the "shell" presented itself to him. He held Blue by the legs with one hand and grabbed at the coat with the other. He peeled the coat off of Blue who slipped out of his grip and began to fall toward the ground.

The moment before Blue hit the ground a street merchant pushed his cart, loaded with bananas directly under him. With a squishy thud, Blue landed safely in the cart before he could fathom what had just occurred, Blue was being pulled by the arm, out of the cart and off of the banana pile. "Nice of you to drop in", Glurp chuckled, " I've banana few bad spots before but there is nothing a peeling about this situation of yours!"

Cloud Crossover

Shaving my brain, recycling my past, giving to Blue what once was Leer's, if you follow my drift. "Blue" is officially "published" on the web on a daily basis now. As the story unfolds, I may cross-pollinate my blog with essential artistic points or observations for those who wish to dive a little deeper. In the image below, "Blue" prospers from recycled elements of "Cloud" and "Leer".

The image below is fresh off the drawing board yet it has the look and feel of earlier "Leer" drawings because it is part of "Blue". I told them I would post it here. The President has seen it and so should you.
National Health Care policy proposal
The United States National Health Care policy will comprise the following:

All citizens who are at present insured by the federal government shall be placed in a pool, such that the health care experience of all will be pooled. This group consists of:
US Congressmen and their staffs
The US Military and eligible veterans
All other federally employed persons
Presently insured dependents of the above
Medicare recipients
Medicaid recipients
SCHIP recipients
The combined medical experience of this base group shall form the base amount of dollars for which the United States government shall self-insure. This base amount will be divided by this number of federally insured citizens, including insured spouses, Medicaid recipients, and children and this will form the base premium amount which shall be paid by these citizens to the US government. These payments which will initially fund the self-insurance treasury held by the US Government in behalf of the pool.
Every year, a rolling 12 months of medical payment history will be tallied and the individual premium will be recalculated.
The above will have to be divided up into Family vs. Individual experience and payments.
It will also prove useful to divide both the medical payments and resultant premiums into (as few as possible, but no more than five) economic regions of the country, since both medical fees and affordable payments are likely to vary by general geographic location.
Similarly, the reasonable and customary medical fees will be determined by what has been the reality in the geographical areas in which the expense was incurred, thus being supportive of fees recovered by medical practitioners in these areas.
To help in controlling avoidable healthcare costs and encouraging patient wellness, within their geographic area, primary care doctors will receive a bonus payment semiyearly for every patient who began the six-month period as that doctor’s patient and has remained his/her patient and has not had need for any nonstandard tests (TBD) or operations for health purposes, i.e. those not accident or calamity related. For every consecutive six-month period that these criteria are met, the primary care doctor will receive a progressive bonus. Once these requirements are not met, the bonus payment progression schedule terminates. The schedule will begin again in the subsequent six-month period, with whoever is now the doctor of record. This bonus program is meant to serve as an incentive to have primary care doctors thereby help to control overall healthcare costs and strengthen their role as each patient’s healthcare coach and overall coordinator of healthcare services.
All paperwork will be submitted by the doctors' offices to the payment agency, be it run by the government or subcontracted by them. The payment agency will be responsible for crosschecking the paperwork with the patients’ health records as input by the service providers, and if the cross-match is successful, all doctors will be paid for their services on a monthly basis. The payment agency will review with all involved parties any discrepancies in a timely manner and resolve them for rapid payment.

Inspired by President Barack Obama
Devised by James J. Within each galaxy, it is estimated that there are a billion stars. Millions of those stars must indeed be the center of their own solar system, much like the sun is the middle of our solar system. That would mean that for each of those stars there could be any number of planets, orbiting around them, possibly sustaining life. With those numbers in mind, it would be ludicrous to believe that none of that life is intelligent. Humanity considers itself to be intelligent life so it is only natural that we take a moment to employ that intelligence in order to realize that there is undoubtedly more intelligent life in this universe in which we live.

So that means that there are aliens.

Now , people seem to be happy arguing the existence of UFOs, alien life forms or visitors from outer space, what is or isn't a spacecraft and whether or not a crop circle proves that one of these crafts dropped by Jedidiah's place last night. I am not at all interested in getting into that sort of a discussion. In fact, none of that matters within the context of what I have to say in this particular blog. What is critical is that logic be allowed to rule the day long enough for everyone to at least acknowledge that there simply must be some intelligent life other than our own existing somewhere out there amongst the billion, billion stars that comprise the universe.

If that thought is too outrageous for you, then I suggest you ask the seven year old who turned the computer on for you to show you how to turn it off.

For the rest of you, thanks for indulging my brief introduction to an equally brief point I would like to make about global climate change.

I recently attended a lecture at a distinguished art museum. One of the two speakers referenced a chart enumerating the thousands of species which inhabit the Earth. In the midst of the thousands of other species names, Homo Sapien (humans) blended in rather insignificantly. That truly was the point which the speaker was making, namely that the human race is only one of countless organisms which reside upon this planet.

There are many people who talk about global climate change as a terrible thing brought about by man's criminally selfish behavior, gobbling up natural resources in order to fuel ambition, power, greed and self-indulgence while pursuing pleasure and entertainment without regard for the very planet which sustains our existence. There are others who point to the pollution from the urban machine and the destruction of wilderness through suburban sprawl, crying out for accountability, justice and sensibility, claiming that mankind has a responsibility to care for the Earth and the thousands of other species who share it.

Silence.

Does it really matter in the grand scheme of the universe?

Probably not. Humankind is insignificant. After the human race has obliterated itself as well as a vast number of other species which inhabit the planet, the Earth will begin its process of healing itself. Many of the other species are likely to survive and others will evolve, multiply and even flourish. The Earth will live on as a very small part of a vast system that stretches far beyond the scope or understanding of the human race.

Heck, for all we know, maybe the alien folk who stopped by Jedidiah's place the other night are just waiting for a chance to move in. After all, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell a good planet when you see one!
www.blogactionday.org

Congratulations To Obama on Nobel Prize

This is a fantastic decision.

I am very pleased that Barack Obama has been chosen to receive this award. I believe that Barack Obama would end all U. S. involvement in war if it were within the scope of his power and if it were truly the will of the American people as a whole. Unfortunately, the citizens of the United States are unable to fully understand the situation in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq or anywhere else for that matter because we have limited resources for access to the truth. Ultimately, the goal of every nation should be to end all war and hatred within and outside of its borders. Humanity continues to prove that we are incapable of such grace and beauty but Barack Obama embodies this spirit as well as any one man can who is the leader of a nation with so many differing interests, agendas and factions.

I applaud the courage and insight of the Nobel Commission in making this decision. I hope that this will encourage President Obama to trust his inner voice and continue to strive to make the changes which extend from his personal ideals. He asked for the American people to help him in his quest for change and already so many have abandoned and turned on him, behaving without responsibility, resigned to inaction. It is encouraging to see an international committee of such pedigree willing to rise to the occasion in support of such worthy ideals as those espoused by the man whom we as Americans pledged our support to less than a year ago.

On Health Care

Imagine...

You wake up one day as the type of person whom you hate most, maybe it's a lazy person, a poor person or someone who believes in a religion which differs from yours. You might wake up in skin of a different color or find yourself jobless, homeless or mentally ill.

All of your normal routines have been stripped away, shattered by the light of day as you catch sight of your reflection. You check your pockets. Nothing. Inside, you know who you are, none of that has changed, but now you are faced with the body of someone completely foreign to you. You are a stranger to yourself.

"I know, I'll just go to the people who know me best and explain what happened, surely they will be able to help me, to see me for who I really am", you think to yourself. "I'll simply get cleaned up, head into the office and get to the bottom of this", you quickly reason. After all, you're a thinker, a capable, intelligent, resourceful human being with assets, belongings, investments, business and social community memberships and family. That's right, you have family, they will know you, they can help.

Wrong.

Unfortunately, the same thing that happened to you has happened to everyone you know.

Really!

It appears that every single person on the planet woke up this morning as someone else. In your case, your former body is now occupied by the anti-you. Man, that really stinks. Some other person has everything you had whether he or she deserved it or not.

Now, here's the worst part. You begin to feel very ill. Ill like you've never felt before. You've heard about people feeling this way. In fact, you've walked right by people who were feeling this way and you weren't even aware of it. Today, that person is you.

You reach out to a man on the street summoning all of your energy to ask him for help. He simply turns away from you as he punctuates his disregard for your condition with the beep of his key fob granting him entrance to his shiny new sports car, one that pails in comparison to yours, or rather the one which now belongs to the anti-you.

So, here you are, alone and sick. Now you are beginning to feel fear. You haven't been afraid of anything that you can remember in a very long time. And why should you be, you have everything a person could want. That was yesterday. Today you feel fear.

Suddenly, a man approaches you. He is tall, well-dressed and smiling. He holds his hand out to you and says,"it's okay, I will help you".

You are unaccustomed to accepting help from a stranger but the need outweighs the discomfort of a sudden shift in ego. You accept his gracious offer as he helps you into his vehicle. You tell him of your predicament as he drives you to the closest hospital while offering you his freshly purchased bagel. As he does so he explains that only yesterday he was bleeding to death in Iraq. Fighting had broken out near his home, as he hurried to cover his wife and children under a mattress pad a blast blew in the door to his home sending large splinters of wood across the very room he was in. "Thankfully", he says "my wife and children were uninjured. I was not so lucky. My back was riddled with chunks of wood, ripping through my flesh, one particularly large piece extended through my chest, I looked down at it then into the eyes of my wife who peeked out from behind the mattress. Suddenly, I awoke in a bed under the most comfortable sheets I have ever felt in my life. I assumed I had died and passed to the afterlife as a white businessman. I sat in that room and laughed and cried for nearly an hour before I realized that this must be real. I had awoken in the body of another human being. I can only pray for the poor soul who ended up in my body. However, I would gladly trade positions for one last look at my family. Please, eat, I am sure you are hungry. I am Hakim."

You tell Hakim your name adding, "well, that was my name."

Together, you and Hakim reason out that the world must be in chaos all around you. People all over the globe are only now realizing what you have come to realize. People do not know where to go for work, what they do or do not own, or even if they are capable of performing the tasks which their new host bodies are accustomed to performing. Nearly everyone is walking around with a look of total dismay. Everyone, that is, except the woman who is in charge of admitting you to the hospital. For some reason, this woman is totally and exactly the same as she was the day before. She asks for your insurance card. You tell her you don't have one. Hakim does, but that won't cover you. The policy of the hospital prevents the woman from allowing you in to be seen. You tell her it is an emergency, unfortunately there is no provision by which you can be seen, even in the case of an emergency.

A thought occurs to you, more like a feeling, you realize that you have become underprivileged. Through no fault of your own, you are without hope, without anyone who might advocate for you. You are trapped in a health care system which is controlled by private interests rather than one that serves the people who make up the country you love, people you never even thought or cared about, until now.

Surely there is a way to help you. There must be some way a person like you can receive proper care. After all, this is the United States of America and you have a basic right to health care. Don't you? The harsh reality is that you don't. People like you made certain of that. People like you refused to acknowledge the basic human rights of others because they considered it to be charity. People like you decided that they would listen to well-crafted words of fear, misrepresenting the truth in order to perpetuate a system which failed to acknowledge that people deserved to be cared for regardless of their social status, religious affiliation, color or occupation. You accepted the spin because it was more convenient than taking the time to learn the truth and now that you are living it you can see why those whom you formerly despised or ignored deserve to be recognized and cared for. Through your sudden lucidity you can see more clearly how providing a public option for health care would not cause an undue burden on you and even more clearly how lifesaving and important it is to others. You now see how health care is a basic right and that all citizens of the world, including those in America deserve to be respected and cared for.

As Hakim slides his credit card across the counter and says "charge it to my account, please", you feel the energy of his smile, the warmth of his unselfish caring. This from a man who in your estimations should hate you, after all, you stood blindly by while your country invaded his home without provocation.

You are relieved as the doctor informs you that your surgery has been a success. He looks remarkably familiar. "Hakim!" you blurt out as you try to sit up. "I'm sorry?", the doctor gently replies as he cautiously eases you back into a fully reclined position upon your hospital bed. The anesthetic clears, giving way to a realization that you are whole and with that realization comes another. Your health insurance covered your operation. You are perfectly capable of going back to work. More importantly, you do believe in the basic rights of all people to proper health care, a clean and safe home, peace, prosperity and the pursuit of happiness. You are a true American.

As you check out of the hospital you notice a young family seated to your right. The mother is crying, the father consoles her as he strokes the head of their child. You well up with pity, now you see them. You ask the woman at the counter if she knows why the woman is crying. Without looking up she says, "no insurance".

Obama Inauguration

I spend a couple of months working on a poster of Barack Obama.
Barack Obama Lifesaver poster
I was very happy to be supporting my candidate and thought that doing this poster would help. As I worked on it, the poster developed new meaning for me. I initially was drawn to the idea of associating Barack with the flag because of the nonsense in the media and many chat rooms, blogs and forums which cited that on a photo opportunity Barack did not have his hand on his heart when everyone else did. To me, this was no indication of a lack of respect. If Barack Obama didn't love this country, he would not have put forth the tremendous effort to become its 44th president.
However, as I was about to begin painting, a friend suggested that I use lifesavers to represent the white and red stripes of the flag. It was brilliant. I immediately associated the lifesavers with the dedicated campaigners who were working tirelessly to help on the campaign. This gave me another idea. I had originally intended to put the poster on the www.MyBarackObama.com site to help with fundraising.

Barack Obama Lifesaver poster

Help Barack Obama and Joe Biden

I believe that I share the vision of which President-Elect Barack Obama and Vice President-Elect Joe Biden spoke during their brilliant campaign. After reading Senator Obama's book, The Audacity of Hope, I became convinced that his values are in line with many of my own. His knowledge of the workings of government and his insight into the character of the politicians he has worked, disagreed and socialized with was not only informative but thoughtfully conveyed. I became convinced that Barack Obama is genuine in his love of the country and its people.

In order to reach the goals cited in the campaign, we the people need to be instrumental in the process of rebuilding this nation. I am prepared to do my part. In fact, I have already begun.

In an effort to "trickle up" I have established a new corporation named Deeper Arts Inc. www.DeeperArts.com The goal of Deeper Arts is to create works of art that inspire people to value our natural resources, develop alternative energy, fight hunger and poverty, eliminate bigotry, end war and alleviate suffering. Everything I have is in this company. My wife and five children and some very close friends are not only my support but my partners in the creative process.

True to the ideals quoted in the book, that our country can grow by the sweat and determination of an ambitious and entrepreneurial population, I took a chance during the most dangerous economic point in the history of the country during my lifetime. I, like Barack Obama, am forty-seven years old. I believe that I can make a success of this business and inspire others to support the causes and idealistic crusades which will heal our country and the rest of the world. When I do, I will be able to support other artists who lack only the financial resources to spread their unique visions of hope and freedom.

My vision is not unfocused. Rather, our group has created works which are specifically tied to the causes we are working to support. We are looking to partner with organizations like Feed My Starving Children, the VFW Foundation, Planned Parenthood, the Sierra Club and WeCanSolveIt.org. Whether we can do so cooperatively with those or other organizations has yet to be determined. However, we are going to give them money from our profits whether we establish those relationships ahead of time or not.

I believe that our future President, Barack Obama would agree that inaction is not an alternative. When I created my Lifesaver poster to benefit the Obama campaign I was faced with a choice of how I was going to get the message to the people. The campaign was doing a marvelous job without me. Many artists shared my inspiration and created spectacular works of art to support Barack. I decided to support his supporters. I sent a total of 4000 posters to the swing states to be distributed at Obama campaign headquarters in the most difficult battleground areas to those who gave so generously of their time in an effort to ensure victory for the Obama/Biden ticket. I received many phone calls, thanking me for the posters. It was I who felt truly thankful. I cannot express how grateful I am to all of those supporters who worked so tirelessly to see this American Moment take place.

DeeperArts.com is NOT a non-profit agency. www.DeeperArts.com I cannot feed my family without profit (even though there isn't any yet). However, I don't believe that the vision of America's future is devoid of capitalism. It must have responsible growth at its core fueled by entrepreneurial zeal and basic human goodness.

So, for my part, I am trying to connect with organizations which will fuel this new economy and address our national responsibilities delivering an America which is both accountable and profitable. Now is the time for new small businesses to get started, create new jobs and strengthen the community. Let's grow America responsibly, together.
